Birthday Surfday

What a fantastic birthday! I think I probably say that every year, but that's got to be a good thing. This card summed up that thought nicely.

With still plenty of good stuff left in the Cornish Hamper, we started the day with another Cream Team!

Although I had to head out afterwards, the weather was fine and I was working with a great bunch of students kayaking on the lake. It was the first time in a boat for me for a few months, so all felt rather novel. I even did a roll to make sure I still knew how to.

Once we'd got back and packed away, Clare met me and we sped off to the beach to Christen my new surfboard and wetsuit.

It was actually really windy - I'm only just hanging onto the board in the photo below! To windy for the usual spots to surf at, however, we found a little sheltered beach, where there were some clean waves peeling just enough to catch some birthday rides! Yippee! I was delighted! The sheep seemed less bothered.

Just before dark, we got out and I was presented with a homemade cake in the van, before we returned to The Cottage for a fine dinner.

It was a whirlwind of a day and I was very grateful for all the texts and emails that I received throughout the day. I read most of them on the way home, while excitedly, checking out the sunset. More cards and pressies by the fireside topped off a great way to be twenty-one for the second time.
