We've been mixing a bit of Outdoor Education with a bit of local history today, on a tour of some of the Castles in the area. As part of the planning of the day, it's been surprising just how many castles there are around here! There's certainly plenty of history to discover. We started off looking for a good place to site a castle and found a decent spot at the end of the lake at the bottom of the Llanberis Pass.

I think this sign at Caernafon Castle was specifically aimed at all those in charge of excitable youngsters. Ha ha!
It's a great place for exploring, with loads of dark passageways and hide-e-holes. You get a great view from the top of the tower too.

There's also a big military museum area with an Uncle Ken sized medal collection, including a few Victoria crosses. A cool day out and about which has been surprisingly exhausting!
