Ogwen Scrambling Link Up

A misty and murky day, with a cold feel, didn't put off my team of students today as we linked up lots of scrambling terrain above Llyn Idwal.

Grade I and II scrambling meant that we could move fast and work on technique and route finding skills on the move, rather than too much time spent getting cold on belays.

The day was focused around movement skills and safe scrambling teamwork as part of the expedition training program that I am running for the students, prior to an expedition in the Picos de Europa later this summer. The final sections of Tower Rib were steep enough to break out the rope for extra safety, but apart from that, we all moved together, spotting each other as we went.

It was great to be moving fast with a team of keen and fit students, even if the views were limited.

Thanks to the Nipper, we snacked on super lightweight 'freeze dried' Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream to keep energy levels up! Amazing - tasted just like it should. Rather strange really. Thanks - Cool pressie!

Tired legs, but good views through the eery clouds got us down and over to Llandudno, where I met a friend for a well-earnt dinner and a catch up.

Ogwen Scrambles:
