Across Andorra

After a good nights sleep and a long and splendid breakfast in a really tranquil hotel garden, we spent the afternoon on a short hike up to a lake, not far from the French border. We had hoped for a swim but it was a bit windy and therefore quite cool.

There's not a great deal of info on what to see or do in Andorra, so we were happy with this light exercise.

Or course, the main thing that people seem to come to Andorra for is the tax free drink and tobacco. Before leaving town we had a quick 'experience' in the enormous (three stories high) supermarkets. If we were chain smoking alcoholics, we could have picked up some real bargains - prices of spirits were ridiculously low, with Gin starting at €1.50 for half a litre!

The towns we saw were nothing to really shout about. Although there are plenty of hills,  most that we saw had ski lifts and resorts dotted across them, so didn't really make for idyllic hiking.

We were happy to press on through to France, where after a long que at the border, we made it to Ax-les-Thermes.
