Discovered the wonders of 'cruise control' today as we set out on the open road, heading north east from Geelong. Travelled over 500km in the direction of the Blue Mountains, where the sun is rumoured to be shining! Set the controls to 110km/h and all we had to do was steer! To begin with, the views were much like this...
But then for the remaining hours of daylight, we enjoyed more of this...
What a journey! Time flew by though and we actually quite enjoyed ourselves, chatting away as the miles ticked by.
Before all this though (and after a terrible nights sleep thanks to the persistent rain hammering on the van), we enjoyed a little trip down memory lane, with a visit to Geelong Grammer School! Well memory lane for Clare at least, who used to work here back in 1999! That's right, way back in the last millennium!
It's a seriously amazing place! More of a small village than a school. As well as the normal kind of thing you'd expect, such as boarding houses and a sports field, there is an enormous, state of the art 'Sports and Wellbeing' facility, a yachting centre and its own equestrian centre! The grounds are fantastic. This is the school chapel.
And of course, we had a look in at the main building of note - Clare's old house!
Oh, and on a final note, must remember to big up Clare, for changing the van headlamp this morning! I was completely bamboozed once the bonnet was up and the guys in the store didn't want to get involved! Persistence (and maybe small hands), prevailed.
