The Dublin experience! It's hard to sum up what we've done today! It's been diverse, sociable, mountainous, urban, relaxing, energetic and a whole lot of fun with some brilliant people.
We started off with a brisk hike in Glendalough, which is a beautiful area just south of the city. Daragh and Katrina, having (literally) just arrived from Canada, met us there and we joined Barney's team for their club's Christmas hike.
After a while, we let the club continue up to the summits and we descended down for a drink in the local pub and some catching up.
After seeing the sights of Glendalough, we went back to the coast, to Greystones for a late lunch at a very funky Cafe called 'The Happy Pear'.
The randomness continued in the afternoon with a visit to Dublin's 'indoor ski slope' - which is a giant conveyor belt which you can ski down!! Crazy! But excellent fun!!
Eventually, almost delirious with tiredness, Daragh dropped us off at the port, and we're here now, on the ferry curled up on a sofa, slipping into sleep... With any luck, we'll leave on time and be home at the Cottage a little before 2am... What a quality weekend. Given our recent schedule, it's not been the ideal time for such a trip and a bit of a logistical effort, but good friends are always worth a little effort!
