Despite the absence of cable cars and chair lifts in these parts, we decided to head out into the mountains and stretch our legs after several days of travel and in-activity. We chose to climb Carnedd Daffyd, which we can see from The Cottage. To add a bit of interest, we ascended via the three star ridge scramble, know as 'Crib Lem'.

It's a beautiful walk up a relatively remote valley, following the river all the way to the back of the Cwm. We scoped out a few swimming spots along the way, but the overcast skies prevented us from being too tempted!

The ridge is great fun - never too hard or exposed and with some lovely views back down the valley to Anglesey.

The main ridge is the best part and after such a long walk in there is some enjoyable scrambling to be had.

From the summit of Daffyd, we enjoyed views right across the Snowdonia National Park. No blue skies today, but all the summits were clear of clouds. Tryfan, the Glyders and Snowdon were all in view. It was four and a half hours car to car, so by mid-afternoon we were back down at The Cottage. There was no alpine cafe to call into on the way down, but we did manage to russle up some very tasty Banana Pancakes and fine coffee, which we enjoyed in the garden instead. Lovely stuff!
