Boxing Day Climbs

Idyllic conditions for some Boxing Day cragging. Big sleep, late start, blue sky, slow breakfast, short drive, picturesque walk and 4km of sea side, quality, bolted limestone to go at.

Lots of lizards too, basking in the warmth of the sunshine and giving us the odd scare when we went to put fingers into a crack!

It was busy at the first sector that we climbed at, so went down to the waters edge for a lunch break. There are flowers everywhere, like spring has already arrived.

The last few weeks of travel, work, visitors and general business caught up with us as we lay in the sun looking out to sea. We woke up about an hour later...

There was still time for another climb though. The three star climbs are denoted in our new guidebook with a strawberry symbol. Flicking to the nearest good looking one, I set off upwards, up a jamming crack, which is unusual for this rock type.

It was a brilliant route and as a bonus, Clare got to try out her Christmas pressie, inspired by the Squamish summer.

The way down was almost more exciting than the way up!

Once again, we were treated to a fabulous sunset as we walked along the waters edge back to the car.

Once back at base, we finished off the last of Michelle's Christmas cakes. Thanks! (the rest were munched in airports along the way here).
