Evening Orme Cragging

A few gentle days of rest and planning have seen a strange mix of hail, rain and sunshine around here. I’ve got so many expeditions, trips and visits going on over the next few months, it’s been tricky get get planned for any one thing! Next week I’ll be on a trekking expedition, so it was good at least to get our group ration packs sorted!

I’ve been lucky enough to be indoors for the poor weather periods and outside for the good, such as this trip around the Conwy estuary.

On Friday evening, after a few chaotic logistical challenges and multiple text messages, John and I met Clare on one of the cliffs at the end of the Great Orme.
‘Sticky Mitts Wall’ is part of the Hornsby Crags area and on this particular evening, was sheltered from the wind, bathed in sunshine and almost too hot to climb on!

Even at 8pm, it was ‘shirts off’ climbing. Utter bliss above the sounds of the sea.

We walked out at 8:30, in the most spectacular glow of sunlight.

We were due at a gig in Llandudno at 9pm, but first John cooked us up some soup for dinner in his camper while we watched the sun set!

After half a Guiness and a bit of live music, we finally called it a day. Mega.
