A Walk in the Woods

It was a different view from the back door this morning and felt like the first time in weeks that we were going to have a properly wet morning. The nights downpours had reduced to a steady drizzle and the hillsides, peaks and valleys all covered by thick damp clouds.

Perfect conditions for a morning spent reading, writing and working in the warm, dry comfort of the apartment.

Later in the afternoon, the clouds lifted a little. Enough to temp us out of the house at least.

By our closest crag, there is a waterfall walk to the Cascade D'ard. We took the short walk though the meadows to investigate, reasoning that it should be quite spectacular after all the rain.

Having crossed the meadows and delved into the woods, we came across a sign saying that access to the falls was closed for maintenance, so we followed another path instead to see where it would lead us.

As it turned out, it lead us out to some super viewpoints and through some mature and dense forest.

At the end of the path, was a clearing a a view right out to Lake Geneva and the Jura Mountains.

A good discovery indeed. Back at the pad, the weather held off long enough for pizza, olive and a glass of wine on the terrace, before more light rain resumed!
