Welsh Winter Sun Climbing

Back in Wales and with an unexpectedly bright and sunny day! Took the opportunity to get our first Welsh climbs of the year in at Castle Inn Quarry.

Despite the clear skies, the sun soon dipped low on the horizon after we arrived. The rock was freezing cold and as soon as the direct sunlight was gone, temperatures dipped low as well. Down jackets for belaying were essential, but fingers just remained just about warm enough to get up each route.

Did three good routes before cold hands and bad light stopped play. Not quite the 'hot rock' experience of the previous few weeks, but still a bonus to be climbing outside in Wales in January!

Castle Inn Quarry:
- Route 1 (5)**
- Riute 2 (6a)*
- October Premiere (5+)
