Feeling the Heat - Climbing at Guarra

We There was a bit of creative car parking needed this moring! We were back at the big crag of Guarra. But this time, we were up early to avoid the furnace conditions of the afternoon.

Even though it was early morning, the sun was already making its presence known!

We got straight onto some steep climbs which felt quite hard, without much of a warm up!

The positions were great though, with Kestrals and some kind of Hawks flying by periodically.

We backed off one route, leaving behind a small maillon. It was arkward to climb with badly spaced bolts, but we got some compensation, so to speak, on the next route as we picked up some left kit near the top!

After lunch, we hiked out before the heat could get us, and drove down to the coast in search of a swim. There was a descent swell running and having failed to find a sandy beach, we stopped off and watch some great surfing on enormous waves!

We drove north towards the huge cliffs of Los Giganttes, but even the beach there was closed for swimming! It was like some kind of tourture as the day was by now sweltering! After trying frustratingly at a few other spots, we got back out of the tourist hubs and near the surf beach, found a little lagoon that was sheltered enough from the waves. We dived right in and the  feeling was heavenly. Utter bliss and relief from the heat.
