Pen yr Ole Wen (978m)

Marginal conditions in the mountains today, but we both fancied the exercise, so set off up Pen yr Ole Wen after breakfast. We got most of the way up the initial steep stuff from Ogwen Cottage and were about to admire the views of Tryfan when the clouds rolled around from the Nant Ffrancon.

The next scramble section was done in the rain and much slippier than we'd have liked.

Up on top, we huddled in the lee of some rocks for hot drinks and tuna sandwiches while looking out at the views...

Which were short reaching at best!

On the way down in the mist we gave the scramble section a wide berth, but almost too wide and had to track back towards the path through the heather and scree! Eventually, we came out of the clouds and got a great view across to Cwm Idwal on the other side of the valley. On getting back into the car we realized that we hadn't seen a single another person the whole time we'd been out. Gotta love Monday Club.
