Homeward Bound

It was a completely different scene down at the beach on our last morning in Sicily. Huge waves were rolling into the bay and showers of rain prevented us from getting a final spin on the bikes.

The waves were coming much further up the beach, pushed on by a very strong wind. After a blustery walk/run along the beach, we packed up and left town. But only after a farewell cappuccino in the local cafe. With it being cold outside, half of the town seemed to be packed inside. A friendly barista made us coffee and we had a few minutes of people watching inside the quirky cafe before driving to the airport in Palermo.

We had dinner in Milan on the way home. Sounds rather glamorous, but in actual fact, Milan Airport is anything but! Still, we were fed and watered and back up in the sky before the evening was out.

From Heathrow, we travelled over to Dockenfield in the van and the next morning enjoyed a long walk around Frensham Pond with Lloyd and Jo-Jo. It was a perfect crisp winters morning. A real stunner.

We had a great couple of days visiting family and friends in the area.

And sampled some first-class Christmas Cake - accompanied with a 30-year-old Sherry!

On the final leg of the journey home, passing by Birmingham in the evening, we pulled off the M6 to check out some new office inspirations at IKEA. It's an enormous place. Quite overwhelming! Nice way to break up the journey though and we left with some good ideas, if a little exhausted...

On Sunday 6th Jan, we woke up back at The Cottage. It had been a whirlwind of a few days and nice to have the day to get unpacked and resorted, ready for the next phase of what looks to be an exciting January...
