Surf's Up

After the recent days of dark skies and dampness, it was a welcome change to awake to the warmth of some blazing sunshine. The wetsuits that we'd hung up last night were steaming with evaporation on the washing line and we hoped that they'd dry quickly as there was the chance of more surf later. No one likes getting into a cold damp wetsuit!

We worked our way through a huge list of jobs, errands and emails and meetings before racing out to the beach mid-afternoon. To have the combination of blue skies, no wind and a guaranteed swell is a rare combination in north Wales and one not to be missed. We excited got changed into our (mostly) dry wetsuits and surfed almost until sunset. The conditions were as fantastic as we'd hoped and it was also rather sociable, with several other friends in the water too. Long rides on clean peeling waves were the order of the day and we only got out before dark as my arms we too tired to paddle!

On the drive home, the mountains were glowing red in the evening sun and were topped by a layer of fluffy white clouds.

Neither of these last two pictures really capture the moment, but it was an incredible evening. When I hung the wetsuits back up on the line, the moon was rising just over the hillside. Magic.
