Hot Weather Packing

Packing, sorting, presentations, giving a speech, tidying, visiting and planning, have all been part of the past few frantic days. Pre-expedition, it always feels a bit like a countdown clock is ticking, but with an almost insurmountable amount of tasks suddenly put on me this week, it's felt even crazier than ever. I think we've managed to pull it off though, with the help of a few brain cooling swims in the valley along the way each evening.

It's been excellent fun getting the kit for our next adventure fine-tuned and prepared. And then trimmed down some more, as per the Derek Brown school of 'minialist' travel.

One of the joys of expedition travel is the minimalist feel. Having just one choice when it comes to getting dressed in the morning is surprisingly liberating. We could take more of course; but then we'd have to carry it. Every gram counts - even the size of a tea towel matters.

We had a practice packing the bikes to make sure we could do it at the airport, before a final swim to cool off.

We sure are lucky to have a ten-minute drive...

To our own private pool!

Feeling sorted(ish) now; think we'll be ok. Just a bit of sleep and another early alarm clock to go!....
