Day 5 - Jonstorp to Torekov

Felt tired this morning and the blazing sun soon had us out of the tent. The sea was flat calm and all was peaceful. Rather than breakfasting in the long grass, we decided to cycle straight off and find a better place.

A few minutes away, we found an island nature reserve where we thought of swimming, but the water was really shallow. Loads of geese and other birds about.

We pushed on, into the next town, where we found a shady bench to have breakfast, followed by the ultimate luxury of finding a very comfy coffee shop. Initially we sat outside on a sofa, but then opted to get inside, out of the heat and bustle of the town square and enjoyed some quiet indoor time!

Along the coast was beautiful, with plenty of swimming opportunities and nice riding. Around lunchtime, we pulled over and cooled off.

I may have also had a little nap before continuing onwards...

An enormous storm cloud was building on the horizon, but luckily, we turned away from it and continued on into the heat of the blue sky on empty roads.

We were aiming for a campsite, even though we didn’t really want to stay there. The campsites here seem to be big caravan parks, with all the trimmings that we don’t really want. They also cost about £35 a night! Our luck was really in today, as just before we arrived at the campsite, we saw a sign heading into the woods to a ‘wild camp’ area, campfire and wooden shelter. What an extraordinary stroke of luck. We had shade from the sun, shelter from the wind, a flat place to camp, and all at no charge. Oh, ant it was 30 seconds from the beach, so we could even leave the he bikes locked to a tree and go for a swim.

Then, just to top it all off, we doubt that there was a shower cubicle on the beach! It was ice cold, but we were both hot enough to want to get even. Even washed my hair! What a treat.

The route was ‘providing’...

Total Ride: 49.9km (241m of ascent)
