Clogwyn Bochlwyd - The Bochlwyd Eliminate HVS (5a)

High temperatures and light winds today meant that a climb in the evening sun was in order. Clogwyn Bochlwyd (or Bochlwyd Buttress as it's also know) catches the last of the sunlight, is quick to walk up to and has some great views. The classic route of the crag is a HVS (5a) over on the left hand side of the buttress, called 'Bochlwyd Eliminate'. A steep, single, 40 meter pitch, with plenty of gear and good positive hand holds all the way. And to top it off, not a midge in sight!

Feeling optimistic, we also decided to climb 'Wall Climb' HS (4b) "before it gets dark"....

And suddenly it gets dark...

It has a bit of an airy traverse at the start, which wasn't massively well protected, but the top had plenty, as well as many big hand holds to choose from. We topped out with just enough light left to sort the ropes and find the start of the foot path down, then followed the well laid rocky trail back to the car, almost squashing a frog in the process...

The last of the light

Frog on the path!
