With only a few hours spent at The Cottage, we decided that we ought to be making the most of the tropical North Wales conditions. With the van still packed, it was easy to roll out of bed and drive to the beach while the world was still waking up.
Barely a ripple on the water, not a cloud in the sky or even a breath of wind. It was an idyllic spot to lay out the blanket and enjoy a quiet breakfast.
Once fed and rested, we inflated the boards and set off along the coast in the most tranquil sea conditions you could imagine.
The water was so clear you could see at least 10m down.
We followed the coast south, passing silent empty bays, zawns and inlets.
At the little island, we stopped for some food and water. The deep turquoise waters were so irresistible, that we were compelled to strip off and dive into the cooling waters. We dried off in the sunshine without even needing to use the towel.
Having never really been in Wales at this time of year, it was interesting to see the jellyfish season was in full force. In places, the water was chocked full of them. We were glad our swimming spot was clear.
Beginning to feel a little toasted, we returned back along the rocky shore.
Safely back where we started from, the bay seemed relatively clear of jellyfish, so a much needed cool off in the form of a quick snorkel, provided a wonderful end to the adventure.
As the beaches started to fill up, the early morning silence and still was gone. We returned instead to the sanctuary of The Cottage gardens.
Expedition planning in the shade, and a few little treats made for the perfect relaxing afternoon...
