Beach Life.

After a few days of climbing, we left the mountainous interior and made our way back to the coast. After scanning the map, we made our way to an unpopulated area of coast hoping to find somewhere to camp and somewhere to swim. Ideally within about 100m of each other!
The drive turned out to be a bit of a mission along a tiny coastal road south of Calvi. Nearly 3 hours later, we found what we'd been looking for! The campsite (despite being in the middle of nowhere) seemed a little crowded, but actually gave us a descent sized pitch with the sea about a 60 second walk away!

Between the shady camp spot and the sea, time was easily passed in a very enjoyable style. So many fish!! I've never snorkelled in such clear blue waters! A magical experience to be able to float about and duck and dive so effortlessly...
As we snorkelled to shore, some small waves came through and we were able to watch them roll around themselves from underwater which was just beautiful. Very special.

Over the next few days we discovered a few secluded rocky bays which gave amazing snorkelling conditions - especially this morning before getting the ferry back to Italy. From the shore we swam over a rocky section then about 50m out from shore, there was a sandy area and the visablilty increased massively! It was really deep, but you could see all the way down, and the fish all surrounded us! All a bit spooky, but exciting!

So now, here we are on the ferry back to Savona on mainland Italy, fully tanned. Beach phase well and truely enjoyed, and ready for a final blast back in the mountains! Great days indeed...
