Dawn Surf

48mm of rain at The Cottage last night! The rain was hammering down so hard on the skylights that it was like sleeping in a tent! Woke several times to the noise of the monsoon! We were up before 6am to head out to the beach to snatch a morning surf before working on a Bronze D of E Assessment. It was hard to 'keep the faith' in the darkness as we stumbled out the house into the pouring rain at 6.15. At least (as forecast) the wind had completely dropped - the question was, would there be any surf!?

As arranged (and instigated), our friend Luke was waiting in the gloom at the beach in the Rhosnigr. Time was premium, so it was straight into wetsuits and down to the beach...

Early doors at the beach!

We were more than rewarded, as there were plenty of good sized waves to calve up - and unsurprisingly, in the first light of the day, we were the only ones out there! Had some real ripper rides along nicely formed waves and there was plenty of whooping as the bigger sets rolled in! The day dawned with a pinkish tinge to the clouds and three grinning surfers! Had to run back along the beach to get back to the van in time to scoot off and meet my group. Other surfers were beginning to turn up by now, but we'd had our fix! Drove off into the day, buzzing, refreshed and feeling revitalised! What a great way to start a day! And the weather continued to get better as I headed off in the the mountains for the day...
