Autumn Canoe Trip

Rainbow on Yr Elen

Did a very nice circumnavigation of Llyn Padarn today with some students in Open Canoes, as part of an introduction to expeditioning by canoe. A few showers blew down the lake, but the temperatures are still warm, and for most of the day the lake was calm. We were right on the edge of the weather, with black clouds in the mountains, to one side and blue sky over Anglesey to the other.

Setting off on Llyn Padarn

Another sudden shower hits!

At around 6pm an amazing deluge arrived as the sun was beginning to set, which provided the most spectacular rainbow over the Carneddau! About 15mm of rain fell in about 15 minutes, and was followed by clear skies! Brilliant autumnal light. Real photographers must have been getting very excited!?...
