A Dip in the Duddon

For the first time in what feels like forever, we're back on the move again. After an unexpectedly late night with friends, there was a bit of a clamour to get packed, get The Cottage in a fit state ready for incoming guests, wave goodbye to the Welsh mountains and get the well packed van and us, on the road.

Stage one of the journey north, involved a quick stop in Llandudno for Clare to get another hit of the vaccine. I waited by the seaside and was just getting settled into to a long morning of reading and waiting, when she returned - Just fifteen minutes later.

We stopped long enough to finish my coffee and appreciate the tranquil water views, then set off up the M6 in the direction of the Lake District.

The journey wasn't too bad, except for the fact that we were both completely exhausted! Arriving in the Duddon Valley later that afternoon, a dive into the river at Ulpha soon sorted out any sleepy eyes.

Still shivering, we arrived in Broughton - our home for the next few weeks and were shown into our quirky abode in the village square - opposite the famous The Old Kings Head Hotel (scene of a famous honeymoon some 49 years ago!).

After a warming drink, we took a stroll around to check out our new neighbourhood. So far so good....
