Out and About in Broughton-in-Furness

Ahhhh.... it feels like we've arrived on a holiday! Had an enormous sleep, followed by a couple of breakfasts, which rolled into lunch. The morning was pretty much over by the time we ventured across the street into the square to see our new surroundings. There's a bit of a French village vibe here - Clock tower, obelisk, pedestrian square, tourist office (closed!), outside bars and cafe etc..

It's the same feeling of utter exhaustion and mental fatigue every year, around this time, so I was quite happy to take it easy and wait for it to wear off, while, eating drinking and generally taking things slowly.

In the name of rest and recuperation, we decided not to drive anywhere and instead, chose to walk from the house to see the new neighbourhood. There is a stately home, (Broughton Tower), just behind our house, with some fine grounds and a fishing lake.

There also turned out to be some rowdy sheep - we had to flee from a field with the whole herd in hot pursuit! We only just made it through the stile in the wall to safety!

The sun shone and the views were great though. Arriving back into the village square in the late afternoon, we took a seat outside the pub and very extravagantly, had a spur of the moment cold pint of beer! It was a rest day after all....
