What a change in the weather! Single figure temperatures and overcast skies! We didn't wander too far from The Cottage after the big ride day, but still managed to explore a new footpath.
It was back to big jackets and hats for walking though. There was an icy arctic wind blowing as we made our way across the colourful lower gorse fields.
Our new path, took us under the old railway...
And along an old quarry worker's path, which was probably an old 'commuter' route.
We ended up down by the river, where we stayed for a short while, watching swallows racing along past us, just above the water, catching flies and making sudden and dramatic aerobatic turns. The speed they moved was incredible. The evenings are really drawing out now.
