The Anglesey Interior by Bike

Back on the bikes today for a bit more local explorations. The mountains looked a bit damp and with the promise of warmer weather on the Island, we set off to explore a central part of Anglesey where we'd not yet been. As soon as we'd parked up in a newly made parking area, near Cefni Reservoir, we felt like we were away on holiday, despite being less than 25 minutes away from home. Although we were cycling on roads, we barely came across any cars. The whole area had a bit of a lost and forgotten feel to it. Even the old railway that crossed over was overgrown.

It was lovely to be out in shorts again following the circular route that we'd set ourselves. Quite therapeutic.

Having traveled up to Llanerchymedd on the 556 cycle route, we joined the Number 5 to return back to the reservoir. The water levels were low as we stopped for a breather by the lake. As we were only out for the day, unbeknown to me, Clare had carried a few 'luxury' items with her and produced an ice cold can of drink, wrapped in ice blocks from the freezer! Very refreshing and no cafes needed. We drank it in the sun, before completing the last section which was off-road around the lake shore

Total Ride: 24km (240 of uphill)
