Rowan Route, Milestone Buttress

Racing the darkness!! The sun was just dipping behind the mountain 'Y Garn' as we pulled into the layby below Tryfan this evening.

It didn't take long to get upto the crag (although the Rockfax guidebook time of 5mins is a little ambitious!). Then it was harnesses on, rope out and get moving!

We climbed the route in two long pitches to save time. The belays are all on lovely big ledges so you can enjoy the views in comfort.

It's a great feeling moving fast up a quality climb. The grade of the route doesn't need to be hard - we just get a buzz from the connection between two people operating together and both totally in tune.

Headtorches remained in pockets as we were back in the van one hour and two minutes after leaving it! Alpine speed! Ten minutes later we back at The Cottage and it still wasn't properly dark!
