We set off to another nearby cliff with big ambitions of climbing a long multi-pitch climb at the cliffs of Nösslach.
Unfortunately, the cliff was more than just a bit wet - there was an actual waterfall pouring down the cliff! Ah well…. one for another day!
Still, things were brightening up and there was plenty more single pitch climbing around the corner on the sunnier faces.
We warmed up on a really good 5c grade climb, that followed a lay backing corner, before moving into what our guide had marked as ‘low 5 grade routes’.
We found them all much harder than the advertised grades! Each involved some pretty desperate moves on very small edges and certainly gave us a good run for our money. They were at least well bolted though, so relatively safe. The rest of the cliff towered above us, with only a few technical routes making their way up and through the overhangs!
On the walk down, once it had been deemed to hot and tiring for any more climbs, we saw all sorts of colours in the woodland, including these orange fungi.
And plenty of wild strawberries.
Back at the parking lot, we decided that we’d head back to the pad rather than go for ice creams.
After an early dinner, we just about had enough energy for a local stroll by the river.
At least there were a few resting spots!
There was more sediment colours to observe as different rivers joined. Very interesting to see.
Plenty of signs of the recent storm too, with big trees ‘snapped’ in half!
This is our village from the meadows by the river. All rather tranquil…
