After the chaos and noise of hiking on Snowdon, it was a nice antidote to be camped with two nice teams of students down by the Ogwen River. After a few wrong turns, but with some good lessons learnt about stopping, thinking and re-planning, my Duke of Edinburgh's Award group made good time as they trekked up the Nant Ffrancon valley.
My group were one of four expeditions out this weekend. It's been one of my busiest logistical weekends to organise - especially as we also had a group sailing up at Llyn Brenig and a team of older students Coasteering and jumping in off the cliffs of Anglesey. I was very happy to see everyone back at base with smiles on (albeit very tired) faces! I was keen for an early night, but stopped off at Indy Climbing Wall, to listen to a book launch talk by my friend James McCaffie, who has also recently written a (fiction) book. It was nice to hear about how his book came about and also how it has connected him with people from past adventures, just as mine has.
