Fanfare, HVS (4c)** Rhoscolyn

How lucky we are to be able to grab a few hours out of an otherwise rather busy day, to nip to the coast and climb in the sun, in solitude by the sea. Even the walk along the clifftop was full of colour.

After scrambling down to the sea level, we 'warmed up' on the crack line of 'Crack and Corner' in Sea Cave Zawn, which was lovely, just a little short.

Was very tranquil to be hanging off a solid belay above the sea.

A short picnic was followed by an ascent of the outrageously steep route called Fanfare. Although the angle is alarming, the holds are huge and plentiful. So as long as your arms can hang on, it's an enjoyable and spectacular route through some unlikely terrain and not the sort of stuff I'm used to.

Happy, I moved quickly enough so as to not get too pumped! No time for much sunbathing today, as there are lots of bits and bobs to get ready back at The Cottage. Getting prepared for lots of coming, going; travel, planes, trains, buses and a long distance hike will all feature in the next week or so!!

Rhoscolyn Climbs:
- Crack and Corner, V.Diff
- Fanfare, HVS, (4c)
