A cycling day tour from home

The dry weather continued today and somewhat off the cuff, we decided to head out from home on the bikes in search of a mini adventure and a good lunch somewhere!

Handily, The Cottage is situated very close to a cycle track, so we were able to stay pretty much car free for the entire 25km ride.

And the back roads that we did use, were hardly the busy types!

Our route led us down to the Menai Staits and along to Port Dinorwic, the village where we used to live when we first moved to Wales.

On Clare's advice, we found a cafe on the edge of the docks and sat admiring the boats and I reminisced about my travels on such vessels on the Pop Pin with Uncle D back in 2015. (you can read about it here)

As promised, there was indeed fine foods for hungry cycle tourers! And when the sun came through, it was actually pleasantly warm (with jackets on!).

An after lunch breeze picked up, so we did retreat inside for a coffee afterwards, before heading off.

We went along the shores of the straits, past our old house, before heading back up to The Cottage, where we arrived feeling suitably pleased, fed and exercised.
