Overcast and Calm

The calm at the lake was almost eerie compared to most days in August where the hot weather creates a strong wind through the valley and the beaches are packed with sunbathers and swimmers. It was overcast and due to be raining heavily, but so far, it was holding off, as were the crowds. We had the place pretty much to ourselves.

Despite the lack of direct sunlight, it was still plenty warm enough in and out of the water. In fact it was probably warmer in the water than out of it!

We had a long swim out into the middle , making ripples on the otherwise still surface, came in, had lunch and then did it all again!

Later in the afternoon, we had a look around St Gervais and thought about doing a climb at the little crag on the edge of town, but decided against it in the end as were were enjoying the relaxed tourist vibe. The heavy rain that was due to arrive in the morning, eventually turned up in the middle of the night...
