It's that time of year in North Wales, where more than ever, you've got to pick your place to climb based on the weather. This photo is of us walking in to climb on the cliffs of Penmaenbach Quarry.
And this photo is from a few hours earlier, looking out of The Cottage skylight as hail was hammering down on it.
So, despite the mornings snow and hail storms, we managed to climb four very enjoyable routes in the full sunshine as things dried up quickly!
The routes here are well bolted and have been well travelled, so the rock is generally pretty sound. The view out to sea really makes the place though.
We worked our way up a few climbs to warm up on, before upping the grade a bit and trying something a bit more technically challenging. It's been a while since I had to pull really hard on small holds! But it felt good to be trying hard again.
Clare got the rope up this 6b+ which involved so yoga moves to reach the right holds!
Suitably pleased and tired in equal measures, we left the crag as the sun started to dip and the temperatures began to plummet.
You could see more fresh snow on the mountain tops as we drove home.
