Getting re-acquainted with the crags (and pretty much, rock climbing in general) felt like visiting an old friend today. I've been climbing here pretty much from when I first started climbing and I've been up a good portion of the routes here many times over the years. But today, with well over a years absence, it felt like a whole new area at first.
I even had to get the guidebook out to make sure we were taking the correct path up to our first route! It took a pitch or two, but we soon got back into the groove of climbing and organising stances and generally remember what it's all about. It was windy on top, but pretty warm on the routes. Not to get too carried away and to avoid burning ourselves out, we had a little sleep under a tree between climbs!
Soon after getting back to the van, it was great to hang out for a few minutes with some fellow climbing instructors and friends who had been also been doing some professional training and making sure they were ready for clients to return. Nattering out of the back of the van, we got a little glimmer of normality returning...
