On a sunny still day like this, it was worth making the effort to get over to the nearby Slate quarries for our first rock routes of the year. It felt like we were in a completely different county as today as well as being sunny, it was actually warm too - up to sixteen degrees! Balmy! Hurrah for March!
We chose a nice 'out of the way' area and had the place to ourselves, although we saw a few other climbers in the distance.
The rock was warm to touch and a delight to climb. Even though we'd done these routes plenty of times before, it felt great to 'be back' after such a long break over the winter.
There literally has not been a cloud in the sky now for two days and visibility is perfect. Snowdon summit was over in the distance as we coiled the ropes.
After a long lunch, spent basking in the sunshine like lizards, we climbed out with our packs on to save having to return for the gear.
The route follows a splitter crack. If only it went on for longer!
