I finally closed down the lid of the laptop just after 14:00. We fuelled up with apple pancakes and coffee, then set off on foot, through the woods, up the hill from the house. The clouds were breaking up and the air felt warmer up there.
We stopped briefly to appreciate the sea when it came into view, then selected a footpath that would lead us around the mountain. Initially, we'd planned to go up and over, but on getting this far, realised that we were actually rather tired!
Instead, we took a slight de-tour of the not so beaten track and walked though and around great swathes of bluebells and yellow gorse.
It would have been the perfect picnic spot in other circumstances. The colours all seemed particularly vivid.
Traversing back on a higher path gave us a fantastic panorama - from the sea to the summits.
There were just a few clouds remaining, as we began our descent - electing to walk down the road as it gave better views than deep in the woods and was likely to be traffic-free anyway.
In the evening, we got The Cottage fire going and used the last of the flour to make pizza dough, before kicking back with our feet up.
