A Hawaiian Surprise!

I’ve possibly never been more happy about getting up at 5am. The shock of the alarm soon wore off as we piled into the back of an enormous black Uber and were transported very comfortably to Seattle Airport.

Excitement levels reached an all time high when I handed over my luggage and received this!

Anna and Jonathan then showed us how airport travel is done best - by taking us directly to the American Express Premire Lounge. Even though the airport wasn’t too busy, behind the tinted sliding glass doors, was an oasis of calm, tranquility and luxury. I’d barely made it past the delicious looking buffet before Jonathan produced four chilled glasses of champagne from the private bar! It was only just 7:30 in the morning, but hey-ho! Delicious fruits, bacon and egg muffins and banana cake proved to be the perfect accompaniment to the morning mimosas.

Jonathan’s airport prowess meant that maximum time was spent enjoying the luxury of the lounge, before arriving at the gate just as our names were called over the tannoy! As we taxied down the runway, we waved goodbye to Seattle and indeed winter for a while!

Next stop would be Honolulu, Hawaii!

Once again, Jonathan’s superior flight skills and status, ensured that we weren’t sat with the ‘normal folk’! More champagne for take off seemed appropriate!

Sleep was out of the question to begin with, which was fine with me as the in-flight entertainment was ‘Hawaii Five-0’ of course! Then just to top off the experience, I got a selfie with the pilots, who seemed just as excited as me!

The airport in Honolulu was right on the waters edge. And what a colour water! Seattle seemed a world away.

Even just walking into the airport terminal, it was clear that Hawaii was going to be a fun place to be!

Another taxi, ferried us after a meal at the airport, across the island, where an unsuspecting Lloyd was relaxing on the beach.

After eight months of planning, we finally made it for the big birthday surprise! Amazingly, we’d all managed to keep it secret and Lloyd (understandably) was well and truly speechless when we suddenly appeared on the beach and all went swimming together!

It really is a beautiful place here, with lush green forest, turquoise sea and a very laid back vibe. It was about one minute to walk back from the beach to the apartment. I think we’ll get along just fine here!
