Social in the South West

After celebrating our New Year return to The Cottage (thanks Pat for the Champagne!), we were back on the road again after just over 24 hours!

With an overnight bag thrown in the boot, we set off south on Friday, calling in for the night at Chez Beth in Stroud. Next morning, we had a brisk walk over the misty Common to survey the 'Swait Estate', before continuing onwards to Somerset.

Here, the weather was much finer. Dinner with Des & Suzi on Saturday night, Taunton town on Sunday morning, interspersed with plenty of food, chat, drink and cold, crisp dog walks with Neil.

Even broke out the wellies to ensure the correct 'Countryfile' look!

Monday saw us crossing the Tamer Bridge into Cornwall, where we arrived at Jenny's in time for a midday pasty session.

Followed by some raucous poetry recitals.

Made it onto the beach at Seaton for half an hour, but too cold and tired to even consider getting in!

Emergency nap required on the way up through Cornwall. Squeezed in a brew with Matt, before dining with Lucy in Westward Ho! that same day.

Then finished the day with an exciting nocturnal visit to check out the boat 'project' in Bideford after dinner too!

Today, we walked along the Pebbleridge of the Ho! Watched a few waves, but was way too cold and manky to be lured in this time...

Six and a half hours of driving and a quick cuppa in Malvern with Julia later and we've made it back home to Wales! A real whistle-stop tour. Feeling well fed indeed! Great to see you all and sorry to those we never made it to!.
