New Years Day 2018, started off with a splash! (After a splendid breakfast on the sun soaked terrace!). As Clare’s rule dictates, it doesn’t count as a ‘swim’ unless you head goes under. Today there was no procrastination, we just dived straight into the invitingly clear turquoise waters.
Super refreshing, energising and invigorating.
The sun warmed and dried us as we lazed on the beach. There was no need to rush anywhere. We did leave eventually, and spent the afternoon climbing. After walking half way up towards ‘Mar Sector’, we changed plans and returned to Dornröschen instead to stay in the sunshine. The walk was still beautiful, with plenty of colour on the sides of the path.
We found a sun soaked crag to ourselves, littered with fantastic routes - the perfect start to the year. I even climbed the hardest route on the crag! Tiny edges for finger tips and feet, invisible from below, kept appearing just in the nick of time as I made my way upwards fully in the flow.
We stayed up at the crag as the sun set, then walked down in the last of the daylight, feeling that we’d really made the most of the day. A fine start to 2018....
