Birthday Celebrations

Clare's Birthday today! And what a day we've had - right from the word go, we've been having fun!

The weather took an unexpected turn for the better and we lunched outside at The Cottage with pressies, before strolling into the slate quarry for the third time this week, in search of more classic climbs.

Down by the Rainbow Walls, Clare led her Birthday Climb - another classic, called Bella Lugosi, which is a really good crack.

The top moves are particularly tricky, so she was all smiles and adrenaline at the top!

An easy abseil back down the cliff, soon had us back at our bags.

The views just seemed to be getting better as we walked around to look at the big cliffs of Rainbow Slab.

Instead of more climbing, we drove down to the lake and went for a birthday swim!

It looked gloriously warm, but we were both glad of hoods and wetsuit boots! The view of Snowdon from the middle of the lake is the best.

To continue the Birthday vibe, afterwards, we went to the Padarn Lake Hotel, where the tables out the front were bathed in sunshine still. We ordered burger and beers and watched the world go by in the evening sun, before returning to The Cottage for tea and cake, which I had made earlier.

More nibbles followed, with a glass of chilled white wine from Germany and the last of the presents. Brilliant fun all the way to midnight...
