Fools Gold E1 (5c) - Climbing Slate

After a drizzly start, the day turned into a real stunner again. We took our time getting up and set ourselves up with avocado and eggs on toast before things dried up perfectly for some climbing on the quick drying slate up at Bus Stop Quarry.

I was planning to leave on a mini road trip in the afternoon, so we nipped out before the drive for a couple of classic sun kissed climbs. Fools Gold is a brilliant route and although I've climbed it a few times before, I still really love the moves and the feel. There's plenty of protection as well and I felt totally in the zone as I flowed up it enjoying the warmth of the sun. Some of the 'Fools Gold' on the foot holds are now polished to a high sheen now though!

Clare then zoomed up Equinox, before we hurried back to The Cottage to get packed.

It just felt brilliant to live somewhere where we can just pop out and do such classic climbs without having to drive for hours or take a holiday to do it. Very lucky indeed. Especially with this November weather.

I was on the road before dark and made it to Northamptonshire in time for dinner and fine wines later that night at Fort Martin. The days are just packed...
