TMB - Trient to Champex

It was a gloomy start to the day in the Trient valley with a steep uphill plod to warm us up...

Made it up to the Col du Forclaz in good time, for a brief stop and a swift cup of cafè au lait...

Then it was onwards and upwards into the mists...

We continued along the TMB route to the small alpage of Bovine. Despite the clouds, it never really rained much and for a while, we were hiking above the clouds, which gave us glimpses of the views.

The flowers were incredible. Such colour and variety...

And then the mists returned. There was a bit of snow to negotiate, but the navigation presented no major worries today...

Just before Bovine, we got a teaser of a view. Had to eat lunch while imagining that there were good views behind the clouds! Well, some of us had lunch - those who had eaten all their rations the day before, went hungry!

We are currently down in the valley near Champex. Fed, washed and watered.

There is a new owner at the Gite here. He is Hungarian, very jolly, and very proud of his homemade Scnaps, which was produced after dinner and served from an enormous bottle!..

I'll leave you to add your own caption to the next photo of Callum sampling the 'good stuff'!...

Good times...
