It's a long drive to mid-wales and back for the day, but well worth the effort when the weather is like this. I was working with a group of sixth form students today, who wanted to climb the peak of Cader Idris.
We ascended from the northern side up what is know as the 'pony path', then along the rim of the cwm to the summit.
We sheltered from the cool wind in the lee of the old summit hut and had some lunch, before descending steeply down the screes to the lake shore.
Here we found a rather nice spot to lie out and soak up the ambience. It was a beautiful time and the only sounds we could hear were the wind and the odd bird. Very peaceful.
Before descending, we had a bit of fun crossing the stepping stones between the two lagoons.
Despite the desire to stay and relax, we had to keep moving and made it home tired, a little late, but all very pleased with outr day.
