Cross Country Driving Through Rural France

We've travelled from Embrum to a ranch in the hills, above the small town of Buis-les-Barronnes, in Provence. It's not a journey of any great distance, but the most direct way involves what must be some of France's least used and most winding roads.

It was a real (slow) 'scenic tour', through gorge after gorge. It was geography heaven for those with penchant for rock strata and river bed meanderings! We barely got above fourth gear during the entire journey!

And just to add to the excitement of fast lorries appearing around blind bends, there were the sheep and shepards to contend with!

We actually broke the journey up with a stop in Gap to find a supermarket (and a quick Decathlon hit!) and discovered a funky little bakery where we got coffee and crossants as well as a few little treats to enjoy once we'd finally wound our way up the dirt track to the studio that we've rented out here in the middle of nowhere!

Before finally crashing out from driving fatigue, we managed a washing session and packed up our ski kit and got our climbing kit back out ready for the next phase of our adventures...
