Carnedd Llewellyn (1064m)

Back up into the Carneddau Range again for my fourth ascent of Carnedd Llewellyn in the last two weeks! Poor old Llewellyn is only 21 meters lower than Snowdon, but Snowdon takes all the fame and glory! It's ranking as the second highest mountain in Wales holds so much less of an allure to hill walkers, so consequently, its always quite up there - but we like it that way!

The snow has been melting fast. There's been no real rain to strip it away, but the temperatures are now in double figures and what's left is wet and slushy, which is tiring to walk through.

The clouds stayed high for most of the day, so we still got some great views on the way up.

As we made a push for the summit, the clouds lowered down to about 1000m, meaning that the last section was in full white-out and our summit photos somewhat less inspiring than last time!

It was quite a different experience on top compared to my sun bathing on Thursday!

We decided to head back down the same way as we were not going fast enough to complete the full horse-shoe route. It didn't matter though, as the views were great and we got to slide down the summit slopes in the soft snow!
