Cottage Alpine Rest Day

The effects of travelling, climbing, working and socialising across the United Kingdom over the last few weeks has started to take its toll! From mountaineering in the Scottish Highlands to trekking in the Wicklow mountains of Ireland and quite a few places in between, it's been an excellently crazy time.

Today, it was time to take a rest. My body felt like it had been on the go too long or done a big alpine route - and my brain was equally exhausted. Finally with a day to ourselves and no agenda, it was late morning before we even woke up. Bliss. Outside the weather was awful again - we've had 12cm of rain here since I left for Scotland 9 days ago! I was more than happy to stay holed up by the fireside! Later that afternoon, a lull in the storm produced some blue skies, so we took a walk from The Cottage to get some air. I was surprised to see we have daffodils coming up in the garden!?!

Down by the village, the river was in full flow, but the energy for going kayaking was no where to be seen! I was more than happy to watch today!

Food, drink and fireside recuperation were the order of the day...
