Skyline Slate Quarry

There was a much brighter feel to the day today! After a morning of sorting stuff at The Cottage, we popped out to the Skyline Level of the Llanberis Slate Quarries. You can't really pick it out in the photo, but we could see right across Anglesey.

Leaving our bags at the top, we walked down into the next 'level'. With Snowdon in the background, the huge 'hole in the ground' always seems like some weird place to be entering...

We climbed two bolted routes, on the Skyline line level. Both are about 40m long, so give a really good pitch. With the sun shining on our backs, the slate had warmed up nicely making it all very relaxing and enjoyable.

After a few routes, we drove down to the village of Llanberis to catch up with friends, before heading home to meet another friend who was in the area, who we hadn't seen since we left for New Zealand! Lots to catch up on and nice to be sociable...
