Between the heavy rain showers, we managed to sneak in a route on some dry rock today. After a wet-ish morning in the Gwynant Valley, we ascended to Pen-y-Pass where we luckily got a parking spot, despite a grumpy warden telling us that the car park was full! On the walk in along the miners track on Snowdon, the weather seemed to be brightening up...
We climbed the route 'Jacobs Media' HS (4a). All was good until I noticed that nearby, on the summit of Lliwedd, clouds and rain had descended. I seconded up the route as fast as I could carrying our shoes and rucksacks.
It was raining properly again by the time we were at the top and packing away the ropes, but at least we didn't have to return to the base of the crag to collect our gear. Instead we scampered off to Mallory's Bar at Pen-y-Pass for a coffee and to dry out.
Things weren't looking much better in the Llanberis Pass, so we called in to DMM to pick up some new ropes that I'd ordered.
Excited to try out the new ropes, (and after voting in the General Election), we tried our luck in the Slate Quarries. Another heavy burst of rain put a stop to the plan, so we took a walk instead by Moel y Ci, where the sun still shone.
Later in the evening we tried again to climb at the quarries, but it wasn't to be and we got rained off half way there again! Retreated to The Cottage fireside to dry out. Tomorrows another day...
