Climbing at Penmaen Bach Quarry

Adjusting to life back in the UK has also involved some practical tasks. Today we managed to tick a pretty big job off our list by putting a deposit down on a new van (having sold the Cessner last year). It's been a mind boggling few days of miles per gallon vs vehicle age etc etc, but thankfully that seems to all be behind us now! Just got to wait for it to be serviced.

To clear our heads, on the way home from a test drive near Manchester, we took a walk from Sychnant Pass to Penmaen Bach Quarry. There was not a breath of wind and it was the perfect antidote to motorway driving.

By chance, our climbing gear was in the back of the car, so we were able to enjoy four great bolted, sunny rock climbs. Bonus!

Given that there was a fresh dump of snow on the hills yesterday, we were surprised to find ourselves climbing shirtless in the warm evening sun! Crazy weather!

As well as the good climbing, the views of the Orme are first class. Who would ever guess the A55 is between us and the sea?

With only a 15 minute walk in, it was the perfect A55 stop off! A splendid finish to a long and (mentally) tiring day!
