Got a bonus day in the hills today - last night the forecast was predicting a total wash out today, but the met office had totally changed it's mind by this morning, suggesting an overcast, but dry day which is exactly what we got. So having planned to have an indoor day, we decided instead to head out for some fresh air. To air on the side of caution we headed to the northern side of the Carneddau to maximise the chances of staying dry and it paid off. The road above Abergwyngregyn gives easy access to a really remote valley that's almost always unfrequented...

Welcome to the Carneddau! |
From the car, a short but steep stomp, gets you up onto a great little ridge that we followed over various smaller summits and up onto Drum (770m). The views over towards Anglesey and Puffin Island are great and the clouds stayed just off the summits.

Walking the ridge to Foel-Ganol |

Onwards to Drum... |
From Drum we took a straight line route down to the lake, where the access road gives an easy walk back to the start. Loads of wild ponies around today and a couple of buzzards, but apart from them, it was just us! Mondays eh....
